Vol 2 - Project 11 - Ian's Quilt

The quilt is finished, but the binding still needs some hand sewing.

Yes, those are sea turtles .........

They've been appliqued on with raw edge quilting

There is one on the label too

Ian had a special affinity for sea turtles, so I wanted them on his quilt.

He won't get to see them though.  Sadly, my brother passed away yesterday.  I am taking the quilt to his family instead.

  7. Hello from Florida (I found your blog while surfing from WIP Wed at Freshly Pieced).

I'm so very sorry for the loss of your brother. I recently lost a cousin who was every bit as close to me as a sibling - while I was feverishly making a quilt for her. It's so very tough. I hope you stuck it out and finished the quilt entirely, because it's a beautiful tribute to him. (And I can't believe you're a "new" quilter!)
