Vol 2 - Project 11 - Ian's Quilt

The quilt is finished, but the binding still needs some hand sewing.

Yes, those are sea turtles .........

They've been appliqued on with raw edge quilting

There is one on the label too

Ian had a special affinity for sea turtles, so I wanted them on his quilt.

He won't get to see them though.  Sadly, my brother passed away yesterday.  I am taking the quilt to his family instead.

  1. Leslie,

Well done on completing the quilt, and I am glad you will give it to your bother's family. Thinking of you.

  2. Oh Leslie, I'm so very sorry for your loss. I'm sure his family will treasure it.

  3. It is beautiful. What a great memorial to him. You did a great job.

  4. Your quilt is a beautiful memorial to your brother's family in his honor. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

  5. I am so sorry Leslie to hear about your brother but you did a beautiful job that Im sure he would have loved it. All our thoughts are with you

  6. I am very sorry for your loss. The quilt is lovely. I am really missing your blogs about QA. Hoping that you will feel like returning to it at some point. Thanks for all the wonderful information you have shared.

  7. Hello from Florida (I found your blog while surfing from WIP Wed at Freshly Pieced).

I'm so very sorry for the loss of your brother. I recently lost a cousin who was every bit as close to me as a sibling - while I was feverishly making a quilt for her. It's so very tough. I hope you stuck it out and finished the quilt entirely, because it's a beautiful tribute to him. (And I can't believe you're a "new" quilter!)
